Tara-Ellen Schebella

Physiotherapist

tara@aaphysiotherapy.com

Tara studied Physiotherapy at the University of South Australia and has worked over the past 15 years in private practice. She maintains a deep appreciation of the complexities of the human experience and the myriad of pain and biomechanical affliction we can experience. She has a background in counselling and is attuned to the influence of stress on body function. A keen observer, she enjoys understanding how flexibility and restriction interplay within the body.

Her hands-on work has a strong fascial release focus; incorporating Craniosacral Therapy (CST), Visceral (organ) Manipulation (VM) and Counterstrain techniques (CS). Her therapeutic style works well in assisting clients suffering from complex, chronic pain conditions, helping to relieve back and neck ache, pelvic pain and headaches. She has a special interest in treating issues that present alongside musculoskeletal issues such as;

  • endometriosis,
  • reflux (indigestion),
  • irritable bowel, bladder over-activity and
  • post surgical scarring - helping to relieve pain and to improve function.
On a more personal note, she has an appreciation of the rigors of being a new mum - as well as experience in navigating biomechanical changes associated with pregnancy and beyond. Tara's physical interests include hiking, yoga, rock-climbing, parkour and belly dance.

Janie MacDonald

Physiotherapist

janie@aaphysiotherapy.com

Janie was a founding partner of a successful physiotherapy and Pilates practice in the city before moving interstate in 2011. She gained valuable experience in both Melbourne and Sydney, being fortunate enough during this time to work alongside renowned pelvis and spine physiotherapist Dr Barbara Hungerford. Here, Janie acquired a wealth of knowledge in the treatment of complex pelvis, hip and low back pain, whilst continuing to build on her expertise in headaches and neck pain.

For many years, Janie has had an interest in pregnancy and the post-natal period. She is skilled at treating pain in pregnancy as well as assisting clients with post-natal return to sport and function.

Janie treats the body as a whole, looking beyond the area of pain or dysfunction. She has undergone extensive training in Craniosacral Therapy and Visceral Manipulation, in which restrictions in the connective tissue, nervous system and other body tissues are released. By combining this with more traditional physiotherapeutic techniques, Janie has found she can achieve a longer-term result for her clients.

Janie also believes that movement and good health go hand-in-hand, and has been incorporating movement re-education into her management of clients for many years.
